Sketch Travel

Hey guys! If you haven't heard of it already, this is an amazing collaboration of artists all around the world who passed on a red sketchbook. It took them four years to get through 12 countries, and they ended up auctioning off the sketchbook and donated the proceeds to charity. One of my favorite artist Dice Tsutsumi (who did the colorscript for Toy Story 3) organized this special sketchbook and have been following his blog updates for the last couple of years.

This is the short film that he created for it:

If you'd like to find out more information on Sketch Travel, visit the website! They have interviews with some artists as well! I hope this inspires you as much as I have been. :)

Population Control

So I guess I should post something. These are some character designs for a zombie story written by a friend. There are a lot of issues, but after countless hours of repainting and redrawing, I think this is the best I can do with the image. And only the beginning of rebuilding my portfolio...

Character Designs

Hey guys, this will be my first post here on the blog. I just wanted to get your guys' feedback on some character designs I am doing for a project. It has to do with Luchadors. Sorry if the logo gets in the way.

First up we have the villain of the story. His greed is what drives him. He lost his chance at getting a powerful object from the Protagonist's grandfather (back when the grandfather was in wrestling).

The next two guys are part of a tag team. They consider them selves a 'dueto' for the audience. They are meant to be a major obstacle the protagonist has to overcome.
Next we have our protagonist. He breathes Luchador Wrestling. Knows all the top guys stats and moves by heart. There are more versions of his design because I don't know what to settle on for him.

The last character serves as an idol for the boy. This was a quick sketch of him, so he also needs more work put into him.

Sorry if I am keeping everything vague, I just think it'll be easier to critique if there is little focus on the story for now. But please, if you guys have anymore questions, feel free to ask. And I will try to respond as fast as I can. Thanks again!

Updated Theme

Hey everyone,

Here is an update to the theme drawing I did earlier. I'm going to start working on the second one in a bit. Any comments?

Great Tintin documentary

I recently saw this linked to a friend, and found it very inspirational. Maybe it will inspire some of you as well. It's a documentary on the creator of Tintin, Hergé. It is rather long, but definitely worth the the watch. I haven't read the comic or seen the movie, but I'm definitely going to do the former.

Goals for the New Year

Happy 2012 everyone!

With this turning of the calendar, we all make some goals up in our minds. Whether they become full-blown resolutions is another issue, but I thought a few links would be helpful in all of us setting realistic goals and actually achieving them.

I found this blog post today about focus. It's a good one. If you can't manage to finish the article, then you should probably be reading it: http://artandinfluence.blogspot.com/2011/12/focus.html

My friend Brett Morgan reblogged this a while back, and I think it's title is fitting:

If anyone else has other links or advice that is helpful to them, feel free to add to the discussion. Hope you all have a good year! For those of you going back to school, best of luck with classes.
